New York

New York. Ahh, New York. What a wonderful place to be. I've been to New York twice now, once for my 21st birthday with my mom, and as of recent with a very good friend of mine, Marielle. We met up at JFK after a long red-eye flight from LAX. For some reason I always have a terrible time sleeping on airplanes. As soon as I get into a deep sleep I immediately end up twitching, or gasping for air, or kick my legs... yeah, I'm that girl. Anyway, Marielle and I arrived in New York at 6 a.m. EST, which I'm pretty sure she would agree, was extremely rough. We called an Uber and headed to our hotel. Luckily they let us check in early, and you would think we would catch a quick nap while waiting for our friend Madeline to head over from Brooklyn and Marielle's friend, Kara, to get in... but no. We decided to stay up. All day. And all night. After walking about 14 miles that day I was EXHAUSTED. But we got to see so much! Statue of Liberty, 9/11 museum, Central Park, dinner on the upper East side, then drinks in a little speakeasy we happened to run into. Obviously I had to order an old fashioned. Day two consisted of us getting lost trying to find the subway while hauling our luggage around, leave it up to us to call an Uber instead to take us over to Madeline's where we stayed for the rest of the weekend. We went to brunch, went into the city and ended up bar hopping for the rest of the day. Day 3 consisted of exploring soho, stuffing our faces with more delicious food, then watching the Golden State game at a "California bar." It would be odd for me to not stay up pretty much all night the night before an early flight when it comes to vacations, so after a long, fun, successful weekend, Marielle, Kara, and I headed to the airport at 5 am after going to sleep a few hours beforehand. So glad I got to go and have a fun trip with my good friends, it's always nice to know that even though we may not talk to each other as much (as life goes on and gets busier and busier) but as soon as we are all together, it's like we never missed a beat. Thanks again, Marielle, for the invite and for introducing me to Kara! And thank you, Madeline, for opening your home to us money-pinchers and staying up late with me talking about life and reliving the good ol' days. Love you guys!
